Our private Extended Tour lasts 2 hours and 30 minutes and takes you beyond the main sights to discover six of Gibraltar’s most memorable attractions. From spectacular views across two continents and the illuminated St Michael’s Cave to the famous Barbary macaques, the Windsor Suspension Bridge and the historic Great Siege Tunnels, you’ll experience the Rock with your own personal guide throughout.

Europa Point

We begin at Europa Point, the dramatic southern tip of Gibraltar, where Europe meets the entrance to the Mediterranean. From here, you’ll enjoy sweeping views across the Strait of Gibraltar towards the coast of North Africa, with Morocco often visible on a clear day.

Europa Point is one of Gibraltar’s most spectacular viewpoints, with the Strait stretching out before you and the coastline of southern Spain visible along the Mediterranean. It’s a fantastic place to appreciate Gibraltar’s unique position between Europe and Africa.

St Michael's Cave

We’ll then head up the Rock to St Michael’s Cave, one of Gibraltar’s most fascinating natural attractions. Created within the limestone over thousands of years, this spectacular cavern is filled with dramatic rock formations and impressive natural features.

Inside, you’ll have time to admire the main cavern and experience the spectacular light and sound show, which brings the cave to life with music and changing colours.

One of the cave’s most famous features is the Angel of St Michael’s Cave, a naturally formed stalagmite whose distinctive shape has inspired its name. Thanks to its remarkable acoustics, the cavern is also used as a unique natural auditorium for concerts and performances.

Gibraltar Monkeys & Top of The Rock

Our journey continues to the Upper Rock, where you’ll experience two of Gibraltar’s most iconic sights: the Skywalk and the famous Barbary macaques.

The Skywalk is a spectacular glass viewing platform built high on the Rock, offering breathtaking 360° views across Gibraltar and beyond. Look across the Strait towards Africa, over the Mediterranean and across the coastline of southern Spain, while the glass beneath your feet gives you an impressive view down the Rock itself.

After taking in the views, we’ll meet Gibraltar’s most famous residents - the Barbary macaques!

Gibraltar is home to more than 200 Barbary macaques, living in social groups throughout the Upper Rock Nature Reserve. They are Europe’s only wild monkeys and have become one of the most recognisable symbols of Gibraltar.

Their connection with Gibraltar goes back centuries, but their numbers became dangerously low during the Second World War. This led to one of the most famous stories surrounding the monkeys and Gibraltar.

Sir Winston Churchill was so concerned about the declining macaque population that, according to popular legend, he ordered more monkeys to be brought to Gibraltar. The story was linked to the long-standing belief that Gibraltar would remain British for as long as the macaques remained on the Rock. Today, the macaques are protected and remain an important part of Gibraltar’s natural heritage. During our visit, you’ll have the chance to see them in their natural environment and learn more about their behaviour, social groups and fascinating history.

Windsor Suspension Bridge

From the top of the Rock, we’ll continue towards the impressive Windsor Suspension Bridge.

Stretching 71 metres across a dramatic gorge around 50 metres deep, the bridge combines impressive engineering with spectacular surroundings.

Crossing the bridge gives you a unique perspective of Gibraltar, with views across the Strait of Gibraltar, Bay of Gibraltar and the city below. It’s an exciting stop that also gives you the opportunity to experience the rugged landscape of Gibraltar, and a great photo opportunity!

The Great Siege Tunnels

We’ll then make our way to the northern side of the Rock to explore the remarkable Great Siege Tunnels, one of Gibraltar’s most important historic sites. Carved by hand through the limestone during the Great Siege of Gibraltar between 1779 and 1783, the tunnels were created by British soldiers as part of Gibraltar’s defensive system.

During the siege, Spanish and French forces attempted to recapture Gibraltar from the British. The tunnels allowed guns to be positioned within the Rock, providing defenders with strategically important firing positions over the surrounding approaches.

As you walk through these extraordinary passages, you’ll discover how the soldiers used determination, engineering and ingenuity to turn the Rock itself into a formidable defensive position.

The Great Siege Tunnels provide a fascinating insight into one of the most significant chapters in Gibraltar’s military history.

Stop outside the Moorish Castle

As we leave the Upper Rock Nature Reserve, we’ll drive past the Moorish Castle, giving you the opportunity to see this impressive medieval fortification from the outside.

The Moorish Castle is one of Gibraltar’s most recognisable historic landmarks, with parts of the complex dating back to the Moorish period. Its most prominent feature is the Tower of Homage, which dominates the northern side of the Rock.

The castle has witnessed centuries of conflict and changing rulers, and its position provides a reminder of Gibraltar’s strategic importance throughout history.

We’ll then continue our drive down into Gibraltar’s historic old town, passing through some of the city’s older streets and neighbourhoods.
