The Bay of Gibraltar is home to three main species of dolphins: the common dolphin (Delphinus delphis), the bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus), and the striped dolphin (Stenella coeruleoalba). Bottlenose dolphins are the most frequently seen, with a resident population often spotted near the coast.
Common dolphins are known for their lively behavior and are often seen in groups, especially in summer. Striped dolphins are more elusive and usually found in deeper waters, but they occasionally venture into the bay. These dolphins make the area popular for wildlife watching!
